evening, presented by the Meaningful Movies and Sustainable Wallingford.

Film: AN EVENING OF SHORT FILMS ON FOOD AND SUSTAINABILITY
WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM SUSTAINABLE WALLINGFORD'S "GROWING FOOD,
GROWING COMMUNITY" PROGRAM
ALSO: We'll be showing a preview of the yet-to-be-released film: "GOOD
FOOD" by Melissa Young and Mark Dworkin, to be screened at the Seattle
International film Festival this coming June. The filmmakers will also
be joining us for the discussion. (More info on "GOOD FOOD":

The Media That Matters Film Festival has produced a great collection
of short films on food and sustainability, also entitled "Good Food".
We'll be showing some of the films from this compilation, along with
other selections. Following the films, please join us for a
facilitated discussion on local food sustainability, food security and
the local community!
"THE LUCKIEST NUT IN THE WORLD" (8 min, Emily James, 2005): Food,
history and follies of free-trade economics rolled up in nuts.
"ASPARAGUS! A STALK-UMENTARY" (6 min, Kirsten Kelly and Anne de Mare):
A film about the self-proclaimed Asparagus Capital of the Nation,
family farms and the war on drugs.
"RECYCLE" (6 min, Vasco Lucas Nunes and Ondi Timoner): A day in the
life of a homeless man, recycler and gardener who made a community
garden for his fellow homeless friends in the median of his street in
the Los Angeles neighborhood of Echo Park.
"TERMINATOR TOMATOES" (5 min, Suzanne Twining, 2001) Claymation film
on genetically modified foods and getting in too deep with a crop of
genetically modified tomatoes
"WATER WARRIORS" (6 min, Liz Miller, 2006) One community's
determination to fight the seemingly inevitable path of water
privatization.
"THE MEATRIX" (4 min, Free Range Graphics, 2003) A clear message on
the ugly truth about agribusiness and factory farms, a la "The
Matrix."
"Growing Food, Growing Community" projects include edible garden
walks, urban fruit tree harvests, community needs & food outreach,
educational programs and much more.
