Dear UCC gardeners,
I hope spring finds you all enjoying the possibilities of growing, this time of year offers.  Missing our monthly exchanges, I have been involved in several new growing adventures.  Please note and think about participation, I would love to see and barter with you all.
 From Sustainable Ballard
 
Our next monthly gathering is our Spring Barter Fair where all things spring, garden and food will be bartered.  Seedlings, pots, plants, perennial divisions, weeding- time, food, bouquets, canned goods etc. Also any white elephants in your closets, or things to share.  Come meet your neighbors and see what the deals may be!
There will also be a presentation by the newly funded Backyard Barter folks whose web site is about to be launched to keep the sense of community barter alive all year long! (Check them out at www.backyardbarter.org)
May 23rd at the Sunset Hill Community Center

6:30 potluck come share food and chat, or $5 donation
7:00 -9:00 Fun and presentation
I will be bringing starts of tomatoes and plants and the more folks who participate the better it is for all.  

Presented by the Food and Garden Guild of SB, we do need help with set up, greeting, and take down.  Just show up with or with out g oodies,to see what neighbors and fellow gardeners have to offer.
 Then in June:

Third Annual Edible Garden Tour 
June 25th 10-3 
Starting from the Ballard Community Center
This year’s tour will explore all possibilities of edible endeavors in the SW quadrant of Ballard.  Starting at the Ballard Community Center the walkable route will take participants by planted parking strips, raised beds, container plantings, chickens, bees, water collection/diversion sites, all to admire and inspire. Ticket/maps are $10 each, kids free.  
For this tour I am the garden scout and am still looking for more gardens in the area (south of 65th and west of 26th).  If you know of a site please let me hear.  Also for this we need volunteers to help with support of participants who do get a basket of goodies and offers to help weed depending on #’s, distribution of posters around Ballard starting in late May, and help day -of in the booth.
