Thought you might be interested in the news about the Nickelsville garden .
In case you didn't get a chance to see it, they actually had corn grown in a
container last year along with assorted other vegies grown in coffee cans
and donated containers! I look forward to the time when they can have actual
raised beds.

> Dear Friends and Supporters, greetings from Nickelsville. Our latest
> plan for the Small Simple Sturdy Sleeping Structures is completed and
> awaiting approval from the community. Once we have an acceptable plan
> set up, we have several contractors ready to start production. And
> that's just the beginning of the interesting things going on this
> week.
>
> Nursing Students from Seattle University have found two places with
> commercial cleaning machines that will help out with our blankets,
> ensuring that we have hygienic blankets available year round. If you
> can help drive the blankets back and forth to these fine
> establishments call Scott at 450-9136.
>
> Our beloved soup lady, Alex, is back from her illness and is once
> again making wonderful dinners, this time bringing along friends with
> impressive recipes. Ellen Park, with great cheer, continues to
> schedule all those interested in bringing a meal for Nickelsville.
> Thank you cooks, servers, & Ellen!
>
> Of course, we are continuing to work with the Mayor's office to move
> to the Sunny Jim site, but the road-blocks set in the way may be too
> difficult to circumvent. Our supporters around the city have been
> bending the Mayor's ear to get the Sunny Jim site back to something
> manageable, and we would appreciate our friends continued effort to
> communicate with the Mayor's office. (see last weeks email)
> Regardless, we are going to move to our permanent site May 15, invited
> or not. So please stay tuned for ongoing updates on our struggle.
>
> We are starting our garden back up this month, and our gardener
> already has lettuce, Swiss chard, and salad mix.
>
> This week, our wish-list includes: Toilet paper, duct tape, and our
> gardener requests green onion starts and any other cool weather seeds
> or starts that we can plant in our container garden.
>
> As always, we could not do this wonderful work without the continued
> support of our friends and community, we can not thank you all enough.
