[UrbanCropCircle] Fwd: Ballard Commons Park

Andrea,

I volunteered with the Adopt-A-Park program awhile back. helping to keep track of who is volunteering in which park around the city. They've had all sorts of programs going on.. It just seemed to me that it would be nice to let them know what had been done...even if it's just a one time occurrence.. they do  have one time volunteer activities..It's a big job keeping track of all of those parks, and it just seemed to me that it would be nice to work with them and let them know when some work has been done.. especially if someone was planning on coming out and doing some work..

Alison

The Adopt A Park program is specific to individual parks.  What Michael is talking about are the ones where the Adopt folks are not particularly active.  Commons, as Jody B. of Parks mentioned, is one of them.  Webster has had off and on attention, and there are others scattered around.

All,

You know that Seattle Parks has had an Adopt A Park program since the dawn of time. Be sure to connect up with those people.

Michael:

I think that would be a great
 idea.

I stopped to chat with Jody and thank her (and her crew) for weeding in the park.  As we got to talking, I told her that I had (surruptitiously) done some weeding in my spare time, and that it would be great to team up with the Parks Department to commit random (or loosely planned) acts of beauty.

Anyone want to step up to a "community building" or "budget reduction" or "quality improvement" project - AKA gardening?

The opportunities for our garden group to partner with the city (and other neighbors) to do neighborly gardening with neighbors on neighborhood land is immense....

It could be part of the 10/10/10 (one-time) initiative, or an ongoing thing.
