One of the problems that many people have when they release ladybugs is that they don't stay put. We like them to stay around and eat the aphids at our house and not our neighbors. There are a couple of ways to insure that ladybugs stay in your yard or garden.

Release them before sunrise or after dark - they navigate using the sun.

Cool them off in the fridge before releasing them, they are less active then.

Hello UCCers and SBers,

I've noticed the last few days an infestation of aphids on my veggies!
I'm going to trot out to Swanson's, which sells aphid-eating ladybugs. However, they sell them in bulks of 1500. That seems like a lot, so if you'd like some let me know and we can arrange something.
(If you'd like to chip in with the cost, or trade starts or something, that would be great!)

Thanks,
Chris

PS- I also still got lots of borage, plus cucumbers and broccoli starts, if you want...
