Hi all,
Below is a link that I found awhile back when I had the same question: Will a bag of these ladybugs stick around or migrate away. I found it interesting and helpful.

I was surprized that there is not much info provided when you purchase ladybugs on how to deploy them properly.

http://www.ehow.com/how_2313673_ladybugs-stay-garden.html

I was having a lot of aphids and for me it was worth the try.

As for the "Ladybug Man", I don't think he is doing ladybugs anymore. He had a place over in Interbay that was torn down several years ago for the Whole Foods complex.
He let go all of his ladybugs.

They are usually available at any nursery and I think in the past I even seen them at Fred Meyer.

I'd suggest a nursery, so that you can ask if the bugs are locally sourced. Also made sure they are not the Asian ladybug. Those prefer a warm climate and tend to try and get into houses rather than stay in the garden and eat bugs!
