Steve Solomon wrote in "Gardening When It Counts" that "Directly seeded plants will often outgrow transplants." Since I don't know anything, and see this as an odd weather year (snow on the roof last night), I am keeping it simple and just chitting peas and direct sowing the rest. My peas are finally showing their pale green necks so maybe chitting them worked.
